Convenings
Learning, building networks, and strategic connections. IGLI convenings nurture a global network of leaders advancing peace and democracy. Our flagship Institutes bring frontline activists together for learning, collaboration, and knowledge exchange, fostering solidarity and strengthening movements. Strategic events, such as the Feminist Peace Summit, engage policymakers, academics, and community members to expand understanding and support for innovative approaches to peace.
The IGLI Institute Model
IGLI Institutes are our flagship program. Each year, we bring together 15-20 women-identified and gender non-conforming activists for a week of connecting, learning, and building solidarity. Our goal for the week is to connect activists from across the globe to each other and to world-leading experts on how to wage effective movements for social change. Our facilitators are alumni, academics, policymakers, and leading thinkers. We design each Institute with attention to the embodied ways that many activists hold trauma and exhaustion in their bodies.
Strategic Convenings
Over the last few years we have prioritized strategic convenings with leading feminist thinkers, academics, and policymakers to address the most pressing issues of our time. In 2024, we hosted the 2-day Feminist Peace Summit at DU to interrogate feminist responses to the war system at home and abroad. This year we worked closely with the Feminist Peace Initiative to write the Feminist Peace Playbook - A Guide to Transforming U.S. Foreign Policy. We also co-planned a convening about feminist responses to the “New Cold War”.
